POSITION TITLE: Children’s Ministry Director
REPORTS TO: Senior Pastor
JOB SUMMARY:
The Children’s Director for Cave Spring Baptist Church (CSBC) provides direction and oversight for the children’s ministry at CSBC from birth through 4th grade.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Children’s Director provides leadership, training, support, and oversight to all Children’s Ministry volunteers, including birth/nursery, Pre-K and K, Grades 1 - 4, and numerous student and adult volunteer workers.
The Children’s Director is responsible for the implementation and development of programming for the spiritual formation of children and equipping parents to fulfill their calling as the primary spiritual leaders of their children.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• A professing Chris-an who adheres to the doctrine and theological teachings of Cave Spring Baptist Church.
• Good leadership, organizational, communication, and people skills. Able to coordinate, supervise, and work well with volunteers and church employees; outgoing, friendly, self- motivated personality.
• Ability to use appropriate judgement in the areas of discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
• Ability to oversee multiple projects, people, and programs to ensure growth of children and
leaders participating within the ministry.
• Have a cooperative, healthy, and motivating relationship with supervisors, ministry leaders, and volunteers.
• Previous experience directing and overseeing children’s ministry desired.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Provide vision, strategy, and development for all Children’s Ministry programs.
• Provide leadership, direction, and training for all Children’s Ministry volunteers and workers.
• Review, coordinate, and oversee curriculum used for teaching within Children’s Ministry.
• Recruit and oversee children’s ministry volunteers, providing leadership, training, and guidance.
• Create and effectively manage the ministry’s budget.
• Develop and maintain safe, clean, aesthetic early childhood learning environments.
• Oversee and/or coordinate Sunday morning small group leaders (Sunday School), including nursery/toddler, Pre-K and K, and Grades 1 – 4.

• Oversee and/or coordinate Sunday morning children’s service during the main church service
-mes for children’s ministry ages (nursery/toddler, PreK-K Children’s Church, and Grades 1-4).
• Oversee and/or coordinate Wednesday evening leaders and programs, including nursery/
toddler, Pre-K and K, and Grades 1 – 4.
• Serve as the primary teacher and leader of Children’s Ministry services on Wednesday nights.
• Provide leadership and direction for Children’s Ministry events throughout the year (VBS, summer program/camp, etc.)
• Responsible for check-in procedures and tracking attendance (children and volunteers) to ensure safety of children attending events.
• Develop, maintain, and lead efforts to minister to children and families
• Develop, maintain, and enforce policy regarding Children’s Ministry to ensure a safe and
welcoming environment.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, ABILITIES, SPIRITUAL GIFTS:
• Active and growing personal rela-onship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by action, attitude and behavior.
• A passion for children’s ministry and to see families grow in their faith together.
• Previous experience with direction and administration of church Children’s Ministries or Family
Ministries desired.
• Experience in recruiting, motivating, equipping, and scheduling volunteer leaders to minister to children and families.
• Experience in designing and developing children’s ministry programs.
• Effective communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal).
• Demonstrated ability to understand and relate to children and their families and a passion to see families grow in their faith together.
• Ability to reach out and connect with families involved with CSBC’s Children’s Ministry.
• Competency with basic computer software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher), and the
capacity to learn new software.
WORK SCHEDULE
The Children’s Ministry Director position is considered bi-vocational and is a part-time position, averaging 15-20 hours per week.
A regularly scheduled work week extends Sunday and Wednesday during regularly scheduled education and worship times. Addi-onal time may be required to appropriately perform the duties related to this ministry position (i.e. meetings, revivals, camps, conferences, special presentations, etc.).
